Borrow or buy?
Type what you know. The math is plain: buying costs the price, plus upkeep each year, minus what it sells for later, spread over every use. Nothing is saved.
Example
A $260 tile saw used twice a year for 5 years, $20 a year in blades, sold for $60 at the end, against a $55-a-day rental: buying works out to $30.00 a use, renting $55.00. Borrowing from the neighbor who already owns one: $0.
